My works combine contrasting textures within a shared composition to visually explore balance and how we perceive it in our everyday lives. My multimedia pieces often involve applying yarn or fabric paired with an opposing texture, such as paint or molding paste. This visually displays the idea of how contradicting elements can work together to create a new beauty. In one of my works, I create a landscape design that maintains a balance between chaos and structure. The use of plaster reflects structure and form, whereas multicolored yarn expresses the fluorescent chaos within it. This further shows how the opposing qualities of one element can bring out the best in the other and create a whole new kind of aesthetic. Although these works consist of differing subject matters, they still maintain the same underlying contrast in order to mirror the numerous circumstances where life requires balance. Thus, my work defines balance as a contrasting beauty, which reveals the need for one opposing element for the other to exist.
